MeitY’s draft rules under the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025 ban real money online gaming, set up an Online Gaming Authority, and create new frameworks for social games and esports.
The draft proposes recognition and support for esports, central oversight of social games, penalties for violations, and a national registry for classified games. The Authority, based in Delhi NCR, will regulate, categorize, and enforce compliance, with stakeholder comments invited until October 31.
