Shark Tank India Season 6 Launches #DontBeATota Campaign - Calls Out Startup Jargon, Backs Founders With Substance

Shark Tank India is returning for its sixth season - and it has something to say about how India's startup culture has evolved since it first aired in 2021. The show has launched a new campaign, #DontBeATota, that takes direct aim at a growing misconception: that speaking the language of entrepreneurship is the same as building a business.

Registrations for Season 6 are now open on Sony LIV.

Meet Tota

At the heart of the campaign is Tota - a parrot mascot who is thoroughly convinced that reeling off startup terminology is enough to win over the Sharks. Armed with buzzwords such as valuation, burn rate and EBITDA, Tota walks into the Tank believing that vocabulary is a substitute for vision and execution. It is not. The character is a pointed and humorous jab at a very real type: the founder who sounds like an entrepreneur without necessarily being one.

Conceptualised and created by The Script Room, the campaign asks a simple but pertinent question - has the language of entrepreneurship begun to overshadow the business itself? In an era when terms like EBITDA and burn rate have become dinner-table conversation, the campaign argues that conviction, execution, resilience, and a deep grasp of fundamentals still matter far more than polished command of startup vocabulary.

Aman Gupta Sets the Tone

Shark Aman Gupta, co-founder of boAt and founder of OFF/BEAT, was characteristically direct in articulating the campaign's philosophy. "If repeating startup buzzwords was enough to build a business, we would all be investing in parrots," he said. "Building a company has never been about sounding like an entrepreneur - it is about solving real problems, understanding your business inside out, and showing the resilience to keep building every single day."

What the Show Is Looking For

With #DontBeATota, Shark Tank India signals clearly what Season 6 will reward - and what it won't. The show is calling on founders who understand their numbers, have spent years solving real-world problems, and can articulate their businesses with clarity and conviction. Whether first-time entrepreneurs or seasoned operators, the Sharks are looking for substance over style.

The campaign builds on five seasons of mainstreaming entrepreneurship across India, giving founders from every corner of the country a platform to pitch, secure investment, and build enduring businesses.

The Season 6 Lineup

Lahori Zeera and L'Oréal Paris are co-powering Shark Tank India Season 6, with White Gold and Lal Sweets on board as partners. Registrations are currently live on Sony LIV. As the promo caption on the show's Instagram read: "Aapko kya poora karna hai - ek business ka sapna ya dopahar ki neend?"
