Apollo Tyres' Global Digital Head Harsh Vardhan Joins Startup Jharkhand Advisory Board

Startup Jharkhand has appointed Harsh Vardhan, Global Head of Digital Innovation at Apollo Tyres Ltd, to its Advisory Board. The organisation announced the appointment on Friday, calling it a defining moment for Jharkhand's startup landscape.

Vardhan, a native of Jamshedpur, leads AI-first digital manufacturing and Industry 4.0/5.0 transformation across Apollo Tyres' entire value chain - from research and development and supply chain to sustainability and GCC Innovation Hubs. His prior roles include Chief Digital Transformation Officer at Capgemini, where he led large-scale digital programmes across industries, and leadership positions at Cognizant that earned him global industry recognition.

"This is a homecoming of sorts," Startup Jharkhand said in its announcement. "A son of this soil who went on to conquer global stages now turns back to give Jharkhand's next generation of founders the kind of mentorship and access he once had to build for himself."

The appointment brings to Startup Jharkhand's advisory table expertise in artificial intelligence, Hybrid Quantum ML, Industrial IoT, and 3D Digital Twins - technology areas increasingly relevant for the state's growing deep-tech startup cohort.

A Leader With Exceptional Standing

Vardhan holds a range of industry leadership positions that reflect his standing across India's technology and policy circles. He serves as a National Committee Executive on Technology and Innovation at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), chairs the Indo-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Mobility vertical, and chairs the ASSOCHAM Manufacturing Committee for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He is also a FICCI Telangana Executive Committee member and a Strategic Intelligence Member at the World Economic Forum.

On the recognition front, Amazon Web Services and YourStory Media named him the AI/ML Market Disruptor of the Year in 2026. He has been featured in the ET 100 CIOs and India AI 100 Leaders lists, and has authored five books covering artificial intelligence, deep tech, and culture transformation. His open-source contributions have earned him the Arctic Code Vault Contributor badge from GitHub - a distinction reserved for the world's most significant technology contributions. He also serves as an Industry 4.0 Gold Mentor at T-Hub, Hyderabad.

Strategic Significance for Jharkhand

The advisory appointment comes at a period of growing momentum for Startup Jharkhand. The organisation's flagship event, Entrepreneurial Connect 3.0, held on 30 May 2026 at CCL Convention Centre in Ranchi, drew over 700 attendees and 400 startups, with Mission Blue Foundation committing a ₹20 lakh grant to the ecosystem.

With Vardhan's induction, the organisation gains direct access to global networks, corporate innovation partnerships, and deep-tech strategic expertise that few state-level startup bodies command.
